Diamonds may indeed be forever, but their path from mine to finger has been primarily the same for more than a century

Traditionally, rough diamonds are sorted by size, shape, and other basic features and grouped into batches or assortments. Mining companies would sell these batches through auctions or “sights” to wholesalers and manufacturers.

This method is antiquated, inflexible, and inefficient. Buyers are left with unneeded diamonds to re-trade into secondary markets. These diamonds can change hands as many as ten times, causing value loss across the entire value chain.
